What to Expect
From Registration to the PUblic Registry
The process is designed to move your shop from registration through an independent audit, corrective action if needed, and ultimately to a public registry listing. The approved workflow includes 12 steps, with key decision points around eligibility, grant matching, and whether the shop passes or needs corrective action.

Register
Fill out the online registration (about 15 minutes).

Eligibility Check
ISFA confirms your shop is in California, fabricates silica-containing slabs, and has workers’ comp (If you have employees).

Audit Grant Match
If you applied for an audit grant, ISFA’s review panel matches you to available grant funds.

Auditor Assigned
ISFA assigns an independent ISO 45001 auditor with no ties to your shop or your suppliers.

Scheduling
Your auditor contacts you to pick a date when fabrication is running.

Target: Audit within 30-45 days
06
Pre-Audit Document Review
Upload your written silica plan, training records, air monitoring, medical surveillance records, and respirator program.
Your Time: 1-2 hours
Target: 2 weeks before audit
07
On-site Audit
Auditor walks the shop, watches cutting and cleanup, checks equipment and records, and talks with workers in their language.
Your Time: 4-6 hours

Report to ISFA
Auditor submits findings on a standard scoring tool.

Result
PASS – attestation issues and registry listing.
CORRECTIVE ACTION – written list of items to fix.

Corrective Action
Fix the items and send proof (photos, records, invoices). Imminent hazards must be fixed before cutting continues.

Industry audit grants cover pilot audits for eligible shops.
Fixes are employer responsibility under existing law. ISFA will share resources, free member training, and available equipment financing/grant programs.
Weekly Wednesday sessions; workers receive wallet card (Printing/shipping fee inly).

Grant funder independence: Grant funders never choose which shops are audited, never see an individual shop’s results, and cannot influence whether a shop passes. You do not have to buy from, or promise anything to, any funder.
